Experts have described America’s current economy as being “K-shaped.” Gregory Acs, vice president for the tax and income supports division at the Urban Institute, spoke with NPR’s Morning Edition about how economic growth has diverged into two arms: those who are reaping the benefits of a record-breaking stock market, and everyone else. "The idea behind a K-shaped economy is that growth is unequal,” Acs said. “We've had growth, but it's been top-led growth.”
