Join Sarah Rosen Wartell, president of the Urban Institute, for the third installment in Urban’s new conversation series, Evidence to Action. During this virtual event, Brett Theodos, senior fellow at the Urban Institute, Noel Poyo, executive director at the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, and Jason Tepperman, managing director at Promontory Local Credit, will join Wartell to discuss how robust and equitable small business lending can help us recover from the economic consequences of the pandemic.

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was created to support small businesses affected by the COVID-19 shutdowns. But evidence indicates these dollars are not always hitting the mark. Poyo, Tepperman, Theodos, and Wartell will discuss the conditions small businesses are facing amid the pandemic, including what we know about the particular effects for small business owners of color; what the PPP and other lending programs have done so far to address the need; and what actions policymakers could take moving forward to create a more equitable recovery.
