By 1992 it was a $114 billion program that enrolled more than 35 million people with diverse health, social, and insurance needs. Medicaid has been at the forefront of such public health issues as infant mortality, AIDS, and long-term care. This volume reviews Medicaid spending and enrollment trends over the past decade and discusses changes in the system of federal-state financing.
